St. Julie Billiart and St. Peter in Chains’s Athletic Commission oversees all CYO sports in both parishes and is proud to offer one of the most complete sports programs for boys and girls, grades four through eight. The Commission maintains the uniforms and equipment, pays the entrance fees, reviews and assigns the teams’ coaches, and represents the parishes at the CYO Board meetings. The greatest source of revenue for the sports program is from the sale of the lottery calendars.
On January 8, 1971, Jerry Wiegand and a small group of men started St. Peter’s Bingo through the instigation of Louie Fritsch. Every Friday night a friendly group of volunteers can be found in Wiegand Hall and cafeteria selling cards, calling numbers, selling refreshments and making people feel welcome. That is why it is known as the “Friendly Friday Night Bingo.” The revenue from Bingo supplements our school budget and campus maintenance. It takes many hands for Bingo to run smoothly and be successful. Volunteers are always welcome. If you would like to join this group, contact Elizabeth Moran at 513-863-3938, ext. 306.
St. Peter in Chains' Friday Night Bingo helps fund the St. Peter in Chains School. Therefore, all St. Peter in Chains School families are asked to volunteer throughout the year.
This ministry was begun to offer support and consolation to our parish family at the time of a parishioner’s death. Every parish member is invited to participate. Some members help by handing out the funeral Mass programs and answering any questions guests may have at the time of the funeral Mass. You may want to volunteer for the Resurrection Choir or to be available if the family requests a Lector or Eucharistic Minister. Other parishioners volunteer by organizing and making food for a luncheon served after the funeral. You might like to volunteer to make phone calls or help serve or clean up the luncheon. For more information, please call Mary Lou Fening at 887-7258 or Jan Huffman at 309-2674 or Sue Austing at 863-6458.
