Child Protection Information

Please remember to check the Virtus website once a month for your required reading or current bulletins. PLEASE DO NOT RELY ON EMAIL REMINDERS. Archdiodesan policy states that if you miss 3 bulletins or more you are suspended as an approved volunteer until you either do the missed bulletins or retake the whole program. PLEASE be diligent. Also, please be sure to call the office to check when you were last fingerprinted. If it's been 5 years you must have a background check completed through your Virtus account. Please call with any questions or concerns.

Safe Parish

This program is applied across the entire Archdiocese for all adult volunteers that work with children. This policy applies to coaches, all scouting volunteers, babysitters, catechists, assistant coaches, assistant catechists, and ALL ADULTS who work with children and teens. NOTE: New volunteers will NOT be permitted to work with our children at all until this training, a background check, and approval process is COMPLETE.

IMPORTANT: Because of the content of the videos shown at this training, children under 18 are not permitted to attend and childcare is not available. Please plan accordingly.

Background Checks
Everyone MUST have new background checks done electronically every five years. Because your background is being checked electronically on a quarterly basis, you are now able to volunteer / work anywhere within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Go to https://www.aocsafeenvironment.org to complete a background check, complete training and become certified. Changing or adding locations will not impact your requirements once you’ve completed a background check.

It is your responsibility, to make sure your contact information is current and the list of locations in your Safe Parish account is current. You can add and delete locations by going to the Account tab of Safe Parish and click Update my account.

If you are a volunteer, volunteers will be able to click on the toolbox tab within Safe Parish to initiate the background check with SELECTiON.COM. See the PDF below for instructions.

Volunteers no longer need to be fingerprinted. A background check through SELECTiON.com and Safe Parish online training is all that is required.
